Job Description – Executive – Fire Safety

 

To ensure the safety and protection of mall premises, occupants, and visitors by implementing effective fire prevention measures, conducting routine safety inspections, and responding efficiently to emergencies. The Fire and Safety Officer will be responsible for compliance with all relevant safety regulations and maintaining emergency preparedness.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Fire Prevention & System Management: Inspect, test, and maintain all fire protection systems (fire alarm, hydrant, sprinkler, fire extinguishers, pump rooms, smoke detectors). Ensure fire pumps (jockey, hydrant, sprinkler, and diesel pumps) are in working condition. Monitor the Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) and BMS for alerts or faults. Conduct daily checks of fire safety equipment and maintain records.
  2. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with local fire safety regulations (e.g., NBC, NFPA, local fire department norms). Maintain updated safety documentation, licenses, and inspection reports. Coordinate with statutory bodies for inspections, audits, and fire NOC renewals.
  3. Emergency Response Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans (ERP). Conduct periodic fire drills and evacuation drills for mall tenants and staff. Train security personnel, housekeeping, and tenant staff on fire safety practices.
  4. Incident Management: Respond to fire alarms, emergency calls, and safety incidents promptly. Investigate incidents/near misses and prepare detailed reports. Recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  5. Training & Awareness: Conduct fire safety and first aid training programs for mall staff and tenants. Promote fire safety awareness among visitors through signage and announcements.
  6. Coordination & Reporting: Coordinate with mall operations, security, maintenance, and local fire authorities. Submit weekly/monthly safety reports to the management.

• Zero fire-related incidents or safety violations.

• 100% compliance with statutory and audit requirements.

• Timely maintenance and functionality of all fire safety systems.

• Successful conduct of fire drills and ERT effectiveness.
