Role Overview
The Manager – Costing & Budgeting is responsible for estimating project costs, preparing budgets, monitoring cost performance against budgets, forecasting, and ensuring profitability of real estate projects. This role works closely with Project, Procurement, Design, Finance and BD (Business Development) teams to ensure that projects are delivered on cost, time, and quality parameters.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and validate detailed cost estimates (BOQ) for all project components: civil, structural, finishes, MEP, landscape, etc.
- Conduct rate analysis (material, labour, subcontractors), keeping updated databases / benchmarks.
- Develop project budgets at various stages: concept, feasibility, preconstruction, execution.
- Monitor actual project costs against budget; perform variance analysis, identify cost overruns, and recommend corrective actions.
- Forecast cost to complete; prepare revised budgets/forecasts as required.
- Collaborate with the Business Development / BD / Sales team to assess feasibility of new projects from costing perspective.
- Oversee tendering, procurement schedules, contract management to ensure cost effectiveness.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders: Project Heads, Architects/Consultants, Design, Procurement, Finance.
- Prepare MIS / periodic cost / budget reports for senior leadership. Monthly / Quarterly cost reviews.
- Ensure adherence to cost control processes, company policies, accounting standards.
- Identify process improvement opportunities to improve estimation accuracy, reduce cost, eliminate waste.
- Manage and mentor a team (if applicable) engaged in cost estimation, budgeting, costing tracking.
Software Requirement
- Candidate must have experience in Residential Projects.
- Candidate should have spent sufficient time in one company (He/She should have seen at-least one complete project life cycle). Candidates having 1-1.5 year experience per company can be avoided.
- Hands on Experience on Softwares like Auto CAD ( is Mandatory). Other softwares like Cost X or any other quantification software would be added advantage
Educational Qualification Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering/Quantity Surveying, or similar. Additional qualification (e.g. NICMAR, Diploma, or courses in Estimation / Cost Management) is an advantage.
Experience real estate / construction industry with significant exposure to estimation, budgeting, cost control. Experience with highrise residential / commercial projects preferred.
Technical Skills Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, rate / market cost analysis
Familiar with relevant software/tools: MS Excel (advanced), AutoCAD (for reviewing drawings), perhaps ERP systems (SAP, Primavera, etc.)
Ability to interpret architectural / structural / MEP drawings for quantities and costing
Excellent analytical & financial forecasting skills
