Job Description - AGM Taxation

Key Responsibilities:

1. Direct Taxation:

Oversee all aspects of direct taxation including income tax planning, computation, filing of returns, and assessments.
Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act provisions and manage tax audits, assessments, and appeals.
Review and monitor advance tax computations, deferred tax, and MAT calculations.
Liaise with external consultants, tax authorities, and auditors as required.

2. Indirect Taxation (GST and Others):

Lead compliance with GST laws including registration, filing of monthly/annual returns, reconciliation, and input tax credit management.
Monitor and ensure correct classification of transactions for GST applicability and compliance.
Handle GST audits, departmental inquiries, and litigation matters.
Advise business teams on GST implications of new business models, contracts, and transactions.

3. Tax Planning & Strategy:

Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.
Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization.
Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, or restructuring from a tax perspective.

4. Governance & Reporting:

Establish strong internal controls for tax compliance and reporting.
Review tax provisions in financial statements and coordinate with auditors for statutory and tax audit requirements.
Maintain documentation and records for tax compliance and assessments.

5. Stakeholder Management:

Coordinate with internal departments (Finance, Legal, Operations, etc.) and external advisors for smooth tax operations.
Represent the company before tax authorities and consultants as required.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Strong technical knowledge of Direct and Indirect Tax Laws (Income Tax, GST, etc.).
Experience in tax assessments, audits, and litigation management.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Proven track record of handling taxation in a multi-location / real estate / retail or service-oriented organization (preferred).
